Student Project Engagement

Students have the opportunity to engage through:

  • Final Year Capstone Project
  • Honors Thesis
  • Masters Thesis

DefendTex offer these style of student projects through University partners providing students a ‘real’ industry defence related project that offers;

  • Engineering guidance and support from both an industry expert engineer and academic supervisor throughout the project
  • Engagement in a novel defence related project negotiated and refined with student/supervisor input
  • Industry assessment in collaboration with the partnering university
  • Gain knowledge and experience of defence industry without undertaking an internship

All applicants must be eligible to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.

Students can contact DefendTex directly if there is a particular field of interest. Alternatively, DefendTex offer a number of student projects directly through university partners.

PhD Opportunities

DefendTex provides PhD opportunities for specific defence projects through partnering universities. PhD scholarships are focused on the industry project, offering the candidate a shared division of time between the University and DefendTex to optimise collaboration.
Successful candidates will be working in a collaborative team to develop defence related experience.

APR Internships are also offered for current PhD candidates.

All applicants must be eligible to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.

Early Career Researchers

“Is a career pathway in academia or industry the best path to take?” A common question for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in the first few years of their graduation.

DefendTex provide opportunities for ECRs to engage with DefendTex through pathways of research, often in collaboration with a University. These positions can be short term assignments of 12 months or longer project duration.

This offers the ECR exposure to an industry environment, whilst focusing their expertise in research for the project which is a great opportunity to support a career pathway for ECR.

DefendTex request that applicants are eligible to meet the requirements for Baseline Security Clearance.
